Yacht stolen in Europe mysteriously found thousands of miles away on the other side of the world

Stolen sailing yacht found on the other side of the world

A couple hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, leased the Mischief yacht in Croatia because the duo wasn’t using it at the time.

However, the tenants reportedly couldn’t control their mischief and took it away.

The vessel in question was a 58-foot Hanse 588 sailboat by Hanse Yachts.

It was no superyacht and had nothing too flashy like this ultra-luxury superyacht in London.

But it was very much a yacht, and they don’t come cheap.

Plus, it belonged to a couple — which can be a prized possession, not that it usually isn’t.

On the topic of couples and boats, this couple spent 10 years building two huge homemade yachts in their backyard.

Anyway, Mischief was reported stolen, and its owners created a Facebook page to spread awareness about the vessel.

It quickly went viral among the yachting community, and hundreds raised their support.

With some luck, one such supporter apparently recognized the boat in Brazil and reported it to the local authorities.

After the authorities confirmed it was the same vessel that went missing from Croatia, they started the process of sending it back to its rightful owners.

It took quite some time, but Mischief was sent back home after spending several months away.

Nobody knows exactly how it ended up on the other side of the Atlantic, but it reportedly made several stops before reaching there.

As for the culprits, the last update from local news channels mentioned that an investigation was underway.

This situation reminds us of the 35 high-end cars stolen from the UK that were found in Thailand years later.

All things considered, one good deed from a stranger helped this boat, and the owners had a somewhat happy ending.
