About Us

The International Association of Marine Investigators (IAMI) is a non-profit international organization dedicated to combating marine theft,1 arson, fraud, and other criminal activity in the marine environment. Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Russellville, Missouri, IAMI has a global reach, with members representing the public and private sectors in the United States and around the world.

Our Mission

IAMI's mission is to develop and provide high levels of training to law enforcement, insurance investigators, and other marine professionals.2 Working and training together with both public and private sectors to combat marine theft, arson, fraud, and other criminal activity in the marine environment.

What We Do

  • Training and Education: IAMI offers a variety of training programs, including the Certified Marine Investigator (CMI) and Certified Marine Fire Investigator (CMFI) program, which provides comprehensive instruction in marine investigation techniques. We also offer regional conferences and workshops throughout the year to keep our members up-to-date on the latest trends and techniques in marine investigation.
  • Networking and Collaboration: IAMI provides a forum for marine investigators from around the world to network and share information. Our annual conference brings together hundreds of investigators to learn from each other and build relationships.
  • Advocacy: IAMI advocates for policies and practices that support the effective investigation of marine crimes. We work with government agencies and industry partners to promote best practices and improve the safety and security of the marine environment.
