IAMI is a private organization. All applications must be completed in full to receive consideration. By submitting your application, you give IAMI consent to process and maintain this information, which could include a background check. Do not submit an application if you do not give consent. Additional documentation is required and may include but is not limited to a resume, copy of photo ID, and background check. Once the initial application is received, you will get an email with further instructions.
- LAW ENFORCEMENT (LE) municipal, county, state, federal, national, or international law enforcement agencies who are full-time salaried employees with peace officer powers or are engaged in intelligence gathering, United States Coast Guard officials, special agents of the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) and administrative officials of vessel registering, or titling authorities may be eligible for Law Enforcement Membership. New applicants must include a photocopy of their current LE credentials.
- NON-LAW ENFORCEMENT (NLE)Law enforcement officers are in reserve, auxiliary, or retired status. Private Marine Investigators, Insurance Investigators, and Marine Industry Representatives. New applicants must provide three things: a resume, a photocopy of their current driver's license and/or passport, and a copy of a recent background check with submission of the application. Memberships run from August 1st to July 31st no matter when you join.
If you already are a member and your membership has lapsed contact HQ for reinstatement. Do not reapply.
